Before our trading contests went on summer break, we spoke with our winners of the 427th and 428th rounds of Drag Trade and asked them to share their recipes for success in Forex.

I’m 21, I go to a technical university and one of my hobbies is Forex trading. I’ve not been doing it for too long, so I’m still learning. I don’t rule out the possibility of changing my mind about trading, but right now my goal is to start getting regular income and make it my main source of income. My most memorable trade was “sell in may and go away” with EUR/USD this year. I prefer medium-term trading because it’s easier to handle my anxiety this way. I’m 51, I work in purchasing and also I’m into fishing. I passed special training courses and studied a lot on my own to learn trading. The most effective way of learning is practice, the Forex trading per se. Although I’ve been trading for 7 years, my attitude towards it haven’t changed much, I still like it. My goal is to make $100,000. My most memorable trade was when I managed to increase my deposit from $2 to $100. It’s impossible to cope with anxiety when trading, sometimes I just step away from the monitor. The most interesting trading instruments chosen by traders last week:

• @EGBP — Euro/pound cross currency futures. It's a low activity contract with daily volumes not above several hundred contracts. The size of the contract is 125,000 EUR. Minimum price fluctuation (1 point and 1 tick) is 0.00005 GBP for a contract or 6.25 pounds per contract;
• #CVX (Chevron Corporation) — America's second largest energy corporation (after Exxon Mobil), one of the largest corporations in the world. It’s listed 3rd in Fortune 500 (2015) and was included in Fortune Global 500 in 2014 (12th);
• COPPER — copper futures. Contract volume is 25,000 pounds (around 11.34 tons). Minimum price step is $0.0005 per pound ($12.5 per contract). Millions of investors follow the copper quotations every day. Copper was the first metal to be worked and used by man. Total world production of copper is about 16 million tons per year;
• CRUDE OIL LIGHT SWEET — Light sweet crude oil futures. The contract size is 1000 barrels (42,000 gallons). Minimum price fluctuation is $0.01 for a barrel or $10 for a contract. Products of crude oil: gasoline, heating oil, diesel fuel. 2 barrels of gasoline or 1 barrel of heating oil can be produced out of 3 barrels of crude oil;
• NASDAQ-100 — futures mini contract for NASDAQ-100 stock index. The size of the contract is calculated by multiplying the current index quote by $20. The quotes are specified in index points. 1 tick is 0.25 and costs $5. NASDAQ is an American OTC market that specializes in hi-tech (electronics, software etc.) companies shares.

I’m 45 and I’ve been trading on Forex since 2012 but I hadn’t had much success until recently. I became a trader by chance, came across an ad of a training group and completed a course for beginners. I like that trading allows me to work from home and gives me the freedom of choice: when to work and how to work. I participate in contests because I want to save up the prize money for deposits for trading. Mostly I trade with major currency pairs, but my favorite instrument is NZD/USD.

When choosing a broker, the first thing that I pay attention to is how long they have been in the market. Grand Capital has been around for 11 years, that’s why I chose them. I participated in Rally Trade contest several times and even made it to the top, but I wanted to take the first place! And finally it happened! The competition was tough, sometimes my opponents broke forward by a small margin. I went to bed at night and when I woke up I saw that my GBP/USD trades went below zero. I already wanted to give up, but suddenly turned my attention to EUR/USD pair, closed my GBP/USD trades and started scalping EUR/USD. In the end I left my opponents behind and took the first place. I wouldn’t recommend newcomers to rely on chance and to wait for the trade to change its direction for the favorable one. Better to close a trade with a small loss than to blow your entire deposit.

I’m 48 and I own a store. I’m interested in all kinds of business that can potentially bring profit. I learned Forex trading on my own, read educational materials online. I’m 28 and I work in construction and study philosophy. For the first time I got into Forex 5 years ago. I borrowed from a friend several CDs with trading lessons and Platform 4.
